| Team HareScrambles November 10-11, 2007 Bikes run Saturday / Atvs Sunday Race Results click here The first ever Team Challenge went off with out a hitch!!!! This was almost as much fun as Youth day! I hope everyone had as much fun as I did! We didn't know what to expect for rider turnout, in a day in age when folks only seem to show up for a series event, but we were quite surprised with the 90 rider turnout. It probably would have been more if the weather would have been better for the 2nd day. The weekend kicked off with 50cc race where the team of Wyatt Wilkin and Katherine Page took off with the early lead in the bikes, and Dailyn Bobb was running away on the microatvs. After a cpl laps and a switch in bike riders, team Dalton Foster and Ryan Richards took over the lead and never looked back as they cruised thru the checkers for the win. Dailyn took the microatvs followed by Aubrey Wile, then Sadiee Gorrell. Now the 85cc bikes were lined up and they were stacked with some great young talent. Team Levi and Dustin Keller jumped off with a big lead, but after 4 laps, team Tristan Stumbo and Ryan Slopko managed to make a pass at the check point, but team Keller shut them down as they made a pass back before they got into the woods and cruised on for the win followed by Slopko and Stumbo. Coming behind them was the team of BJ Thoroughman and Levi Armstroung followed by Allan Jones and Tyler Zimmerman. So the big bikes came out in great numbers with 23 teams to tackle one of the most grueling courses ever set up at Humboldt Hills. The pits were stacked with some of the fastest riders in the Buckeye State. Riders like DR Atwood, Kyle and Cody Chaney, Aaron Brahnam just to name a few. The team of DR Atwood and Nick Eing jumped out to an early lead, but Team Chaney(Kyle and Cody) didn't take long to close the gap and take over the lead. These 2 teams battled back and forth a couple times, but it was team Chaney who would reach the checkers first to take the win. Other notable rides of the day were, Rob Rosenberger and Jeremy Dexter who took third overall, Chris Stevens and Chad Adkins won amatuer overall and the B class, Ryan Williams and Ben Branham took the C class, Jay Wile and Bart Burgess won the old guys veteran class, and Dickey Dakota who won the Ironman class. So at the end of day 1, there were smiling faces all around and already a rumor floating about a 4 race series. Or was it a rumor? Now its day 2 and the weather started off even better with warmer temperatures for the miniatvs. With 5 teams and an Ironman we were set up for a great morning race. After the flag dropped the long legs of Ciera Bobb seemed to help her out for the Lemans style running start as she nailed the holeshot and came through the checkpoint in first place. 2 laps later the team of Ben Keaton and Cody Nixdorf managed to take over Ciera's sister and teammate Kamren Bobb. These 2 teams were close for the rest of the race, but the Bobbs just couldn't seem to make the pass and the team of Nidorf and Keaton took the win. Rounding out the field in 3rd was the team of Trenner Wile and Tristan Garrett. Fourth was Wyatt Wilkin and Catherine Page followed by Aubrey Wile and Seth Beavers. Other notables were Steven Hamm who rode IronMan, this kid ran 14 laps by himself and over 28 miles. This little guy has a bright racing future ahead. Next up was the Full Sized version of atvs. Off with the holeshot was Matt Pierce and team mate JR Brown. Then it happened. The skies opened up and let loose. It rained and rained some more. As the hard packed fields and the rocky woods sections got wet, it seemed like ice instead of dirt. All these riders deserve a big pat on the back as they all hung in there, and no one wanted to call the race early. Especially the riders. Slowly but surely all the teams kept making laps and the rain kept falling. At the end it was the team of Brown and Pierce who took the checkers first. Followed by C class and overall amateur winners Jordan Dusenberry and Cody Stanley. Other Notables were the team of Andrew Green and Matt Dombrosleas who won the B class. But the most credit goes to the youngsters Samantha Fisher and Dylan Fisher. They were the least experienced of the riders. After every lap they were questioned about the course and if we should call the race early and every time they said "we want to ride" and thats what is all about. Even if you are struggling, you never give up!!! From everyone at Humboldt Hills to every one in attendance, Thank you all so much for coming out and supporting the club, the series, our great sport, and just being so cool to hang out with. We love you all like we love our family, because thats what you are to us...our family!!! |
